Week Thirteen

Finally, we've been having gorgeous weather here in Rome. As expected at the end of every semester, I have spring fever. And I don't feel like doing work!

But it's the last week of classes, and time is disappearing so quickly...

The good news is, I got to check a few things off of my list of "things to do and see" this week.

Wednesday 4/2: Went to St. Peter's to see the POPE. He was doing a mass in the square for "Holy mass in suffrage of the deceased Holy Father John Paul II."

i was about 100 feet away
(POPE HAT!)

(for you, Mom!)

On Friday, I FINALLY saw the Sistine Chapel (have to go back again to see the rest of the Museum). You couldn't take pictures inside, but here's an interactive view of how it looks.

one of the hallways (the hall of tapestries i think?) leading to the Chapel

I also went in St. Peter's Basilica. Wow! The place is massive.

St. Peter- he's buried under the altar.

Aaaand then I went to the top!

he was standing straight.

After the dome, I walked around Trastevere and found a place to have a traditional Roman lunch: Roman artichoke, braised oxtail and tiramisu. All delicious- I don't think I'd order oxtail again, but I'm glad I tried it once.

and a couple pieces of chocolate orange slices :)

A few more projects, a paper and 2 finals to go!
